“Everything about Last Harbour’s sound is opulent and decadent.”

“Hell, yeah, they’re good.”
Nice words, thank you. x

Monday 12th April : the end of the tour.
The ‘Volo’ tour ended this morning back home in Manchester with a 4am beer and reminiscing. We survived, the red brick survived. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us, friends old and new, all the promoters and to Rich from Sleepsound Agency who booked the dates. We love you all. Last Harbour x

Sunday 11th April ; York, Stereo
Last show of the tour. Sadness. Tiredness. Then sadness again. Stereo is a great new venue – only been open a couple of months but Joe, Vinnie & co are doing a superb job. Lovely people who don’t mind that we’re late and make us cuppas straight away.

Time for sight-seeing after soundcheck:

Support band Dark Roads – good stuff with some stinging guitar heroics:

Fox N North play before Last Harbour – you’d say “low and dirty” if you were a journo:

Saturday 10th April : Newcastle, Cumberland Arms
After Lancaster we drove late night across the Northern Pennines to Newcastle – much singing in the van while I tried to avoid all the rabbits attempting suicide. Saturday daytime was spent in a practice room borrowed from Ever Since The Lake Caught Fire (thanks Ben) teaching the songs to our third drummer of the tour, Tom. He’s brilliant but also makes us feel very old. Tonight’s show is with our good friends Lanterns on the Lake (who are on fire tonight, just beautiful) and Nev Clay (superb guitarist, less good at jokes, but oddly very funny at the same time).
Take a bow Tom:

Friday 9th April : Lancaster, Yorkshire House
This is the last ever show that Richard from Opposite Of Robot is promoting so we’re honoured he’s decided to make it a Little Red Rabbit Records evening with Last Harbour, Anna Kashfi and Samson & Delilah, plus local support from Little Hero (apologies there’s no photos of them – I was power-napping in the van ahead of a late night drive to Newcastle). The Yorkie is always a fantastic place to play and Kev, Richard & co. don’t let us down. Muchos respect. x
Van packed with sheer brute force. Plus a little geometry to fill every available space.

Once again, Sam fills in on drums for Last Harbour. And once again he’s superb.

Thursday 8th April : Hebden Bridge, Hole in the Wall
This one nearly didn’t happen. Huw, our indestructible man-mountain of a drummer turned out to be a little more destructible than first thought. He came down with evil tonsilitis and a raging fever after Leeds so has retired from the tour. We salute him. So, a last minute call to Sir Samuel Lench from Samson & Delilah secures us a drummer for the night. And he plays a blinder, learning the songs in soundcheck and keeping the whole ship afloat.
Sam learns the drums parts through the medium of words and paper:

“The Hole in the Wall is a beautiful old pub dating from 1899 with stunning tiling and all period features intact” (Last Harbour Estates Inc.):

“They are lights”:

Cool Piano Roll support. Really good – intense, tight and sickeningly young:

Tonight: Lancaster. A Little Red Rabbit showdown with Anna Kashfi and Samson & Delilah. x

Wednesday April 7th : Leeds, Royal Park Cellars
Nice night in Leeds’ hilliest district. Great to hang out with our booking agent Rich from Sleepsound and good to meet the Big Eyes folk too.

Sunday April 4th : Cambridge, Portland Arms
A really good show here. We get an encore and so decide to hammer through ‘My Knowen Foe’. Thank so much to Dan and Josie for their kind hospitality, especially considering we drank all their beer and made them stay up late playing Shithead. Also had first A&R meeting with Noah, the newest Fuzzy Light. He sleeps through the whole meeting though…

Tonight’s venue, the Portland Arms. Lovely place, good ale and a top quality cheese bake, although lack of meat is a concern for hungry drummer boy.

Pool sharks. Last Harbour 1, Cambridge 0.

Tonight’s excellent support band The Pony Collaboration.

Next show is the hometown mothership: Tuesday 6th April at Deaf Institute, with Samson & Delilah and Goldmundo. Tickets here:

Saturday April 3rd : London, Union Chapel : Little Red Rabbit Records showcase
Possibly the most beautiful venue we’ve ever played – and it was with our labelmates Kalbakken and Samson & Delilah which made it extra special. We’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, but thanks so much to Ben at Arctic Circle for putting the show on.
